Come scegliere il terrarium giusto
Scegli il terrarium in base alla tua esperienza e alla luce di casa: un kit completo è la via più semplice per iniziare, mentre contenitore, piantine e materiali separati servono a chi vuole comporre un progetto su misura.
Se è il tuo primo terrario, parti dai kit terrarium completi pronti da montare, che includono vetro, strati di fondo e piante. Se hai già un contenitore, puoi scegliere i set di piantine per terrarium e i materiali per terrarium come argilla espansa, carbone attivo e muschio. Un terrarium piccolo sta bene su una scrivania o una mensola; un contenitore grande diventa un punto focale del soggiorno ed è anche un'idea apprezzata da regalare.
Terrario chiuso o aperto: quali piante mettere
Il terrario chiuso ospita piante che amano l'umidità costante, come felci, muschi e Fittonia; il terrarium aperto è adatto a piante grasse e specie che vogliono aria asciutta e più luce.
Terrario chiuso: Fittonia (Fittonia albivenis), piccole felci, muschio e mini Ficus ginseng (Ficus microcarpa).
Terrarium aperto: piante grasse e succulente, con substrato drenante e annaffiature rare.
Un terrarium con piante vere richiede poche cure: luce intensa ma mai sole diretto, acqua demineralizzata nebulizzata solo quando serve e un controllo periodico della condensa, delle foglie secche e di eventuali muffe.
Posizionalo vicino a una finestra luminosa, lontano dai raggi diretti che scaldano il vetro, e tra 18 e 24 °C.
Nel terrario chiuso un velo di condensa al mattino è normale; se il vetro resta appannato tutto il giorno, apri il coperchio per qualche ora.
Togli con una pinzetta le foglie secche e pota le piante che toccano il vetro.
Molto di rado: in un terrario chiuso l'acqua evapora, si condensa sul vetro e ricade sul terriccio. Nebulizza un po' di acqua demineralizzata solo quando il substrato appare asciutto e sul vetro non si forma più condensa.
Dove posizionare il terrarium in casa?
In un punto luminoso, vicino a una finestra ma senza sole diretto, che attraverso il vetro surriscalda l'interno e brucia le foglie. Se la stanza è buia puoi aiutarti con una lampada LED per piante.
Cosa fare se il vetro è sempre appannato?
Un po' di condensa al mattino è segno che il ciclo dell'acqua funziona. Se il vetro resta appannato per tutto il giorno c'è troppa umidità: apri il coperchio per alcune ore e sospendi le nebulizzazioni finché non si riequilibra.
A cosa servono argilla espansa e carbone attivo?
L'argilla espansa sul fondo crea uno strato di drenaggio che tiene l'acqua in eccesso lontana dalle radici. Il carbone attivo, sopra l'argilla, aiuta a limitare cattivi odori e ristagni che favoriscono muffe e marciumi.
Il terrarium è adatto a chi non ha esperienza con le piante?
Sì, è una delle soluzioni più semplici per avere piante vere in casa. Con un kit completo hai già i materiali giusti e gli strati da seguire, e la manutenzione si riduce a pochi controlli ogni settimana.
Terrarium e terrario sono la stessa cosa?
Sì: terrario è il nome italiano, terrarium quello di origine latina più usato nei negozi. Indicano entrambi un contenitore in vetro con piante, aperto o chiuso, che ricrea un piccolo ambiente naturale in casa.
