At our nursery, we consider it a special plant because of its ability to adapt to difficult conditions, making it an excellent choice for anyone who wants a touch of robust and fascinating nature.
The right position
The prickly pear loves direct sunlight and thrives in bright conditions. We recommend placing it somewhere where it can receive as much natural light as possible. If grown indoors, a south-facing window is ideal.
When and how to water it
During summer, water your prickly pear every 7 days, making sure the soil is completely dry between waterings. In winter, reduce the frequency to every 14 days. Remember to water thoroughly and then let the soil dry out.
Temperature and humidity
This plant prefers temperatures between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius, but it can tolerate lows of up to 10 degrees. Ideal humidity is around 40% to 60%, so it does not require particularly humid environments.
The right fertilizer
During spring and summer, fertilize your prickly pear every 30 days with a balanced fertilizer specifically for cacti. This will help the plant grow strong and healthy.
The pot and soil
