The Red of Japanese Autumn All Year Round: Deshojo Japanese Maple, a Collector's Bonsai
In Japan, it is called momiji — the same word used for the colors of autumn. And looking at the Acer Palmatum Deshojo, it is immediately clear why: its intensely scarlet palmate leaves, which change shade as the seasons pass, are among the most beautiful and admired in the bonsai world.
Twelve years of patient and expert growth have shaped this specimen from the Premium Collection into a balanced, harmonious form with a powerful visual impact. A bonsai that is not just a plant — it is a living work of art, capable of transforming any balcony, terrace, or garden into a corner of Japan.

Care and cultivation
Position
Acer Palmatum Deshojo is an outdoor tree, ideal for balconies, terraces, and gardens. It thrives in direct sunlight all year round, but in summer it should be protected from intense midday sun to preserve the beauty of its foliage. Its deciduous nature makes it a four-season bonsai: each time of year offers a different spectacle.
Watering
Abundant in summer, moderate in spring. During particularly hot and dry summers, mist the leaves with water to ensure the right atmospheric humidity — the Japanese Maple loves humidity in the air as well as in the substrate.
Fun fact: the meaning of Momiji
The Japanese name for the Japanese Maple is momiji, which in Japanese refers both to the plant and to the changing color of leaves in autumn. A word that encompasses the entire Japanese philosophy of mono no aware — the beauty of things that change and pass. Having an Acer Palmatum Deshojo means bringing a piece of this thousand-year-old philosophy into your home.
