Beaucarnea (Beaucarnea recurvata), also known as Elephant's Foot or Ponytail Palm, is an indoor succulent with a swollen trunk that stores water and slender, cascading leaves with an elegant fountain-like effect. How to care for it

Light

It prefers bright light, including direct sunlight: keep it near a sunny window. It also adapts to indirect light, provided it is abundant.

Water

Water thoroughly and let the soil dry out between waterings: approximately every 7 days in summer and every 14 days in winter. Before watering, check that the soil is dry at least 2-3 cm below the surface and avoid waterlogging.

Temperature and humidity

The ideal temperature is between 18 and 25 °C; it tolerates minimum temperatures down to 10 °C. Ideal humidity is between 40% and 60%, typical of a normal indoor environment.

Fertilizer, soil and repotting

In spring and summer, use a balanced liquid fertilizer every 30 days. The soil should be well drained, for example a mixture of sand and universal potting soil. Repotting is not often necessary: do it when the plant becomes too large for its pot.

Remove dry leaves with clean cuts.
