A 7-year-old outdoor bonsai, elegant and offering unique sensory qualities. Citrus myrtifolia, known as chinotto, captivates with its intensely fragrant flowers and small decorative fruits that add color to the garden or terrace all year round. Its compact, glossy leaves, reminiscent of those of the myrtle, make it one of the most prized species for ornamental bonsai.

Fun fact
Citrus myrtifolia is famous because its fruit is the main ingredient in Chinò, the celebrated Italian soft drink with a bitter and refreshing taste. A piece of Italian history on your balcony.
Position
Place it outdoors in full light. The flowers release an intense fragrance at dusk, when pollinating insects are most active – a perfect example of natural symbiosis.
Watering
Abundant in summer, moderate in winter. Avoid wetting the flowers during flowering.
Fertilization
From spring to autumn, use the organo-mineral fertilizer Hiryo Gold or the fast-acting fertilizer Nutribonsai. Do not fertilize during flowering; resume once the fruits have appeared.
Repotting
Every 2 years, in the last days of winter or at the beginning of spring. After repotting, watering with Mistral Bonsai's Vitabonsai revitalizer is recommended to help the plant recover.
Substrate
Terrabonsai – a special bonsai substrate that meets water and nutritional needs, promoting root development and overall vigor. Alternatively: 60% Kiryuzuna + 40% Akadama, which promotes growth but requires more frequent watering.
Pinching
When the shoot has reached 4-6 pairs of leaves, cut it back to leave 1-2.
Wiring
Can be carried out all year round; take care in spring, when growth is faster, to avoid marks on the bark.
