Bonsai Pinus Halepensis 12 Years – Aleppo Pine Premium Collection

The Bonsai Pinus halepensis, also known as the Aleppo Pine, is a 12-year-old specimen belonging to the Pinaceae family. It is an evergreen conifer typical of the Mediterranean, characterized by thin needles, grayish bark, and an elegant natural habit.

It is an outdoor bonsai that requires exposure to full sun all year round. It is one of the species that demands the most light to develop properly. Highly resistant to arid conditions, it adapts perfectly to terraces, balconies, and gardens.

A distinctive feature of Pinus halepensis is the presence of mycorrhizae, symbiotic fungi that associate with the roots, improving nutrient absorption, particularly phosphorus. For this reason, it is crucial to avoid water stagnation and use well-draining substrates.

The overall dimensions are approximately 36 x 34 x 45 cm (width x depth x height). The pot is included in the indicated measurements. The shape, pot, and vegetative state may vary depending on the season, as each bonsai is a unique and living specimen.

Botanical Characteristics:

Botanical name: Pinus halepensis
Age: 12 years
Common name: Aleppo Pine
Family: Pinaceae
Type: Evergreen outdoor bonsai (conifer)
Origin: Mediterranean Basin

Care and Cultivation:

Location: Outdoor, full sun
Watering: Controlled; avoid excess to protect mycorrhizae
Fertilization: Spring and autumn, preferably organic fertilizers
Repotting: Every 3 years
Substrate: 100% Kiryuzuna or 50-70% Akadama; alternatively Terrabonsai
Pruning: In colder months, leaving needles and buds on the branches
Pinching: In spring (March), working on candles before needles open
Wiring: From October to March, preferably with copper wire

Curiosities:

Forest fires promote the natural spread of the Aleppo Pine, as the heat causes cones to open and seeds to disperse. It is a species strongly adapted to the Mediterranean climate.

Note: Dimensions are approximate and include the pot. Pot color and shape may vary from illustrative images.
