The timeless elegance of miniature holly: the Ilex Microphylla Bonsai, timeless refinement
There is a plant that Japanese bonsai masters have always loved for its ability to create fine, detailed structures: Ilex Microphylla. Its small, glossy, leathery leaves, precisely branched limbs, and compact, tidy growth habit make it one of the most prized subjects in the art of bonsai. An evergreen that retains its beauty all year round, season after season, without ever disappointing.
Seven years of growth and expert care have shaped this specimen from the Premium Collection into a balanced form with plenty of character. A bonsai for those who love precision, refinement, and greenery that knows no seasons.

Care and cultivation
Position
Ilex Microphylla prefers a bright location: ideally outdoors on balconies and terraces, or indoors in a very bright spot near a window. It tolerates winter cold well, making it hardy and suited to Italy's varied climate.
Watering
Water regularly and consistently, without overwatering. Let the top layer of the substrate dry slightly between waterings. Water more frequently in summer and less in winter. Occasionally mist the leaves to maintain the right atmospheric humidity.
Pruning and styling
Ilex Microphylla responds very well to pruning and pinching, which encourage dense, detailed branching. It is one of the most suitable species for anyone looking to explore bonsai styling techniques, thanks to its ability to recover vigorously after each intervention.
